Stop Bullying

Building a skill set to stand strong against bullying.

Bullying is one of the most common dangers children face

Many children are affected by bullying at some point, and yours is likely to be involved in some way, as a target, a witness or a friend. Kung fu teaches children self-confidence, assertiveness and conflict resolution, which help them deal with bullying effectively.

Why it matters

Bullying can hurt self-esteem, increase sadness and anxiety, and affect a child's health. Children who bully often struggle at school and with other behavior as well. Both sides need support.

What is bullying?

Bullying is persistent threatening or aggressive behavior, physical or verbal, directed at someone who is younger, smaller or at some other disadvantage. It is different from an ordinary disagreement, which is why it is not always clear what to do.

Why does kung fu help?

By building a sense of self-worth and resilience, kung fu helps children stand up for themselves calmly and ask trusted adults for help. The discipline and respect practiced in every class also encourage kind friendships and discourage bullying among peers.

Develop high self-esteem

The effects of bullying are often long-lasting. Bullying commonly begins by the second grade, and it happens in person and online. The self-esteem gained through training, together with strong friendships, helps a child stay out of situations where they could be bullied.

We give your child the tools to succeed

We teach your child to walk away while staying calm, to tell a bully clearly to stop, and to use humor to end a situation. Eye contact and a strong voice help too. We also teach safe self-defense for when a conflict turns physical. This is a gift that lasts through school and beyond.
