Developing Accountability in Kids Through Martial Arts
Owning effort, mistakes and progress.
Accountability means owning what you do, good or bad. Children learn it best when the expectations are clear and consistent.
Clear expectations
Students know what is expected: arrive ready, listen, try your best. Because the expectations never change, children can meet them.
Owning mistakes
When a child makes a mistake, they are encouraged to say so and try again. No excuses are needed, only another attempt.
Discipline sheets
Sheets sent home let parents and instructors share how a child is doing. Children see that the same standards apply in both places.
